Kayak 101 will introduce you to the necessary skills required to enjoy kayaking on the open water. During this boater's safety course you will have the opportunity to learn basic paddle philosophies that will assist you with the enjoyment of intimately experiencing the local marine beauty and wonder from the seat of a kayak.
What to expect: Expect to get wet! During the early season the water will be VERY cold. The first portion of the course will consist of learning basic water safety, the skills necessary for self rescue, and will discuss group rescue. Class will conclude with learning the art of maneuvering your kayak, which should lead you to a fun overall experience.
What is included: Acitivity includes kayak, paddle basic safety equipment, personal flotation device (lifejacket) and instruction.
What YOU need to bring: Swimsuit, dry clothing, shoes that can get wet, sunscreen, towel, wet suit (optional), and a positive attitude.

Policies and Procedures: This is a non-appropriated fund program designed to contribute to readiness and improve productivity through fitness, esprit-de-corps, and quality of life. Eligible participants include: all assigned JWC personnel and their families. Participants must be over 12 years of age. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
