The 426 ABS Services offers a variety of rental and loan items designed to support you during your assignment to Norway.

Equipment Reservations

Automobiles, canopies, BBQ grills, tables/ chairs, and unit sports equipment may be reserved 30 calendar days in advance.

Skis, Snow Blades, and Snow Boards may be reserved the Monday prior to intended pickup.

All other recreational equipment is issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

Reserved Equipment must be picked up no later than close of business on the requested date. Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to pick-up date to receive full refund. Reservations not picked up will be voided and equipment shall be returned to rental status. All deposits will be retained.

Responsibilities
Individuals signing for equipment will be responsible for proper care and use of equipment while in their possession. This individual is responsible for all cleaning and damage that may occur.

Customers will pay replacement charges equal to 426th ABS Services acquisition cost for any items lost, stolen, or damaged. No depreciation cost will be allowed to the customer.

The collection of double the daily rates will assess to individuals failing to return equipment on turn-in due date.

Auto Rental Policy
Vehicle must be returned washed (interior and exterior), and refueled. Smoking is prohibited in all rental vehicles. Parking fees, toll road fees and all traffic violation fines are renter's responsibility. Insurance is included in the rental price. 426 ABS Services have insured all rental vehicles against third party damage. In case of damage to the vehicle or theft of the vehicle the renter is liable for the following amounts: NOK 3000 (if the renter is 23 years and over) - NOK 4000 (if the renter is 22 years or under).

Above limitations are excluded if the renter has shown gross negligence or acted by intent. There is no discount on rental price if the renter has his/her own vehicle insurance.

Entitled Personnel
The following personnel, upon presentation of a valid identification card (ID) or official orders if in temporary duty (TDY) status in Norway, may utilize the 426th ABS Services Rental Program as set forth below.

Category 1: US active-duty military and US DoD civilian personnel permanently or temporarily assigned in Norway under the above-referenced agreements and their command-sponsored dependents (e.g. personnel assigned to NATO JWC, 426 ABS, NATO exercises, US-Norway exchange programs, Norwegian Defense College or US. Embassy - Oslo). This includes AAFES employees and their command-sponsored dependents. This category excludes, among others, DoD contractors, US military on leave in Norway but otherwise assigned outside of Norway, dependents accompanying temporarily assigned personnel and not on official orders themselves, and USAF local-national direct hire employees.

Category 2: US Department of State personnel with diplomatic status permanently or temporarily assigned to the US Embassy-Oslo and their dependents (e.g. Consular's Office). This excludes members of the embassy staff who are local hires and any other embassy employee without diplomatic status.

Category 3: Canadian military personnel and their dependents permanently or temporarily assigned to the NATO JWC, Stavanger, Norway. This excludes dependents accompanying temporarily assigned personnel who are not on official orders themselves.

Category 4: NATO military personnel (Non-Norwegian) permanently or temporarily assigned to Norway and their dependents and NATO personnel on official duty in Norway (e.g. TDY orders); Partnership for Peace (PfP) military personnel permanently or temporarily assigned to Norway and their dependents. This excludes dependents accompanying temporally assigned personnel who are not on official orders themselves.

Category 5: NATO civilians (non-Norwegian) assigned to the NATO JWC, Stavanger, Norway. This excludes dependents accompanying temporarily assigned personnel who are not on official orders themselves.

Category 6: Retired US military personnel, surviving spouses and their dependents permanently residing in Norway.
